Student Support
Advisory
BVA's secondary advisory program centers around being connected as a class. Students attend advisory every week, on Tuesday's at 11:00, unless the student has made arrangements with their teacher to make up the missed class. Students attending an in-person class that conflicts should make arrangements with their Advisor to meet the Advisory expectation. Advisory has lessons using Second Step for the middle school grades, and Character Strong and Seven Mindsets for high school students, along with required items from the 13th year plan. Also, our advisors customize the advisory lesson for the unique needs of their class, building culture and allowing for some social interaction for our students.
Drop in Zoom supports:
Each department has weekly optional drop-in Zoom meetings. These are designed to be an added resource for students who would like to work with a teacher. If students become academically deficient, these supports may be added to the student's Written Student Learning Plan (WSLP) as required to attend. Please see our Zoom schedule in the Phoenix Flame newsletter.
Individual Appointments:
Students and learning coaches may schedule individual appointments with teachers as needed.
